INVESTMENT STRATEGIES

Infrastructure

Infrastructure encompasses assets and businesses that provide essential services. Their investment characteristics depend on how those services are used, priced, regulated and maintained.

Capital for the systems that keep economies moving.

The discipline includes digital networks, transport assets, utilities and related service systems. Some assets generate revenue through long-term contracts or regulated arrangements; others depend more directly on market demand. Essential use alone does not make an investment resilient. Asset condition, capital expenditure, counterparties and the purchase price remain central.

  1. Digital infrastructure

Physical systems supporting connectivity and data, with attention to customers, capacity, power and technological change.

  2. Transport & logistics

Networks and facilities that move people or goods, assessed against demand, operating costs and required reinvestment.

  3. Utilities & essential services

Service assets evaluated through regulation, customer needs, maintenance obligations and contractual arrangements.

Direct equity, joint ventures, platform acquisitions and project-related capital. Each structure requires a clear allocation of development, operating and financing risks.

  1. Revenue durability

Distinguish contracted, regulated and demand-based cash flows, including the credit quality of paying counterparties.

  2. Asset lifecycle

Review maintenance, expansion requirements, replacement costs and the ability to operate through disruption.

  3. Governance & regulation

Assess concession rights, permits, service obligations and the consequences of changes in public policy.

Construction delays, equipment failures, demand changes and rising operating costs can impair cash flows. Regulation and political decisions can affect pricing or ownership rights. Large capital requirements and limited buyers may constrain liquidity.

How dependable is the cash flow after maintenance, reinvestment and service obligations?
